National Laws and Key Policies on Gender Equality in Physical Education, Physical Activity, and Sport

Singapore

Singapore is deeply committed to advancing gender equality within  physical education, physical activity, and sport. This commitment is reflected in initiatives like the SNOC Safe Sport Policy (2020), which aims to ensure a secure environment for all participants. Additionally, the Guidelines for Gender-Responsive Sports Organisations (2021) work towards empowering women and girls by promoting equal opportunities in various physical pursuits and addressing their representation in media.

Driving these efforts is the SNOC Women in Sport Committee Action Plan (2023-2025), designed to create transformative opportunities for women in sports through focus areas such as leadership, coaching, and safety. These national strategies are further supported by broader government efforts, including the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development (2022), which helps ensure safe sporting environments. Furthermore, Singapore actively participates in regional collaborations like the ASEAN Work Plan on Sports 2021-2025, fostering women’s involvement and leadership in sports across Southeast Asia.
