National Laws and Key Policies on Gender Equality in Physical Education, Physical Activity, and Sport

 

Mexico

In Mexico, gender equity with regards to access and participation in sports and physical activity is inscribed in the political constitution. Since 2023, a General law for physical activity and sports also fosters access to sports and physical activity for women.

The 2025 action plan for physical activity and sports targets multiple domains such as participation, infrastructure, coaching, health and education with regards to gender equity. With regards to physical education in schools, a 2018 strategy and a 2019 action plan both foster quality and gender equality.
