Series Description

Global Observatory aims to create stable and longlasting impact with its publications. Currently there are 2 flagships publcaitions series available – Good Practice Stories, Policy Briefs. Learn more about the series and how you can join our effort.

The Global Observatory’s Good Practice Stories is a series that showcases insights and case studies on gender equality in PEPAS. It highlights programs, initiatives, and policies that advance the empowerment, health, and rights of women and girls in all their diversity. Covering diverse topics and geographies, the stories demonstrate how sport, physical activity, and physical education contribute to SDG5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Topics include gender-based violence, leadership, governance, media, policy, forced migration, sexual and reproductive health and rights, grassroots participation, sport for development, informal and recreational activities, physical education, inclusive methods, and bridging gender and race pay gaps, among others.

The Good Practice Stories initiative strengthens gender equality efforts in PEPAS by:

  • Demonstrating sport’s contribution to SDG5: gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.
  • Building a global repository of diverse case studies and research from governments, academia, civil society, sports bodies, UN partners, and others.
  • Pooling normative tools and offering guidance to Member States, donors, and stakeholders to advance gender equality through PEPAS.
  • Creating an inclusive advocacy platform for sharing good practices, fostering knowledge exchange, and building a global community committed to gender equality in and through PEPAS.

We invite you to be part of this global knowledge-sharing effort by contributing your own story. If you have experiences, case studies, or good practices that highlight how sport, physical activity, and physical education are advancing gender equality, we would love to hear from you. Please share your interest through our submission form.

The Global Observatory accepts Good Practice Story submissions on an ongoing basis. All submissions will be reviewed by Global Observatory members, experts, and partners, and authors may be asked to make revisions before publication on the Observatory’s website and networks.

The Global Observatory Policy Brief Series provides concise, research-based analysis and recommendations for policymakers and sport governance bodies. Current briefs address gender-based violence against women and girls in PEPAS. Submissions are welcome from researchers worldwide across disciplines such as sociology, economics, political science, law, and sport science.

The Global Observatory welcomes contributions to its Policy Brief Series. If you would like to propose a Policy Brief, please share your idea by completing the Expression of Interest form . This helps us learn more about your proposed topic, its relevance, and how it can contribute to advancing gender equality in and through PEPAS.
